BitTorrent Filesharing Tips
BitTorrent is an easy file sharing system to use, but it does help to know some basic tips and tricks for optimizing your connection. These are all simple and easy to do.

Always upload while downloading files
When you are downloading a file from BitTorrent, many others are also doing the same. So as you download pieces of a file, you need to send those pieces to others who need them for the most effecient download. If you severely limit or stop your uploading your download speeds will suffer. This is how BitTorrent is designed. Please share!

Always continue to seed after your download completes
Seeding is vital to BitTorrent. You would not have been able to get that movie or music album if someone else didn't share it, so please do your part, and continue to seed your file. The community thanks you!

Configure your router and client so BitTorrent has an open port
Check which port your BitTorrent client is using (usually a 5-digit number). Then configure your router to open that port. Check your router's documentation for more information. If your are running a Firewall for security (you better be!), it will also need to have the port opened. link for more information: Open ports for BitTorrent.

Choose torrents with the most seeders

Many times there will be more than torrent for the same file(s). This may seem obvious but choose the torrent with the most seeders compared to leachers. You will get faster download times because more people will be sharing complete files that trying to download it.
